Star Wars fans can never get enough intergalactic content but fans have been losing their minds over the triumphant return of one of its most iconic villains, General Grievous.
Recently, Disney and Lucasfilm announced the new animated series, Star Wars: Tales of the Empire. This will be a series of six animated shorts that are all about the power of the dark side featuring the aforementioned General Grievous being played by Matthew Wood. We can’t wait to see more of this cyborg coughing his guts up and plotting against the rebel scum. The animated series is said to tell stories of previously untold events of the featured characters.

General Grievous made his first appearance in the 2003 animated series, Star Wars: Clone Wars before making his live-action debut in the 2005 movie, Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. General Grievous is a Kaleesh cyborg, known as a master strategist and an expert in combat of the Jedi ways wielding four lightsabers. He also serves as a loyal servant to Count Dooku.

Along with the infamous General Grievous, Star Wars: Tales of the Empire will also focus on two warriors, namely Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth, who we met in the Disney Plus series, Ahsoka, played by the brilliant Diana Lee Inosanto. The other warrior is the former Jedi, Barriss Offee (Meredith Salenger). We’ll also get to see more of the sinister Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), the Fourth Sister (Rya Kihlstedt), and the Grand Inquisitor (Jason Isaacs). Even the legendary Darth Vader will feature in some capacity, but his actor has not been confirmed at the time of writing.
Fans have responded to the appearance of General Grievous with excitement in the comments section of the YouTube trailer for Star Wars: Tales of the Empire. “Grievous’ slaughtering of the night sisters is about to get a whole lot darker,” said GridLockOnTheBeast. “Seeing Thrawn, the Grand Inquisitor and General Grievous is a fun blast from the past,” rejoiced metek8926.
“Thrawn, Morgan Elsbeth, Grand Inquisitor, Grievous, Vader, and Barriss in Clone Wars-style animation? Heck yeah! Can't wait to see this show when it drops,” rejoiced hungtheheroluu. “General Grievous, you're more handsome than I expected,” said Sam, sorry, AirsoftAlfonse.
Star Wars: Tales of the Empire will be available to stream on Disney Plus in its entirety on the very befitting day of 4 May 2024.
