Electronic Art's long-dormant and hugely popular Fight Night franchise is finally poised for a comeback, according to a new report.
Writing for VGC, industry insider Tom Henderson has heard from EA sources that the publisher has greenlit a new entry, which has already entered early development. Henderson previously accurately reported on every aspect of Battlefield 2042 ahead of its reveal earlier this year.
According to his report, the Fight Night revival is being worked on under the codename 'Moneyball'. Unfortunately, it sounds as if the project is still at least a few years away from release. Henderson notes that "core development" on the game has been paused so EA and its studios can focus on the next EA Sports UFC game, scheduled for release late next year.

EA has been teasing a new Fight Night for well over a year now, though it has always stopped short of fully confirming anything. Given the current status of the project, it's unlikely the publisher will have anything to show off or share anytime soon.
The last game in the series, Fight Night Champion, released in 2011. A new entry has been a long time coming, it's safe to say.
