Call Of Duty: Black Ops remastered for its 12th Birthday

Call Of Duty: Black Ops remastered for its 12th Birthday

Call Of Duty: Black Ops deserves a remaster, dammit

Like it or not (and I definitely don't like it because it makes me feel old) Call Of Duty: Black Ops turns 12 this year.

2010's Call Of Duty instalment is widely regarded by many to be a major part of the franchises' "golden era" alongside Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops II. The campaign, the multiplayer, the maps, and the modes were all exceptional. Sure, Call Of Duty has done some great things since, but never quite this good.

One has to wonder, then, why Black Ops has yet to be remastered. Activision has proven it has no issue with returning to older games to milk them dry. In the past few years we've seen brand-new versions of Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 released alongside the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro remakes.

These projects are big business, which would lead us to believe that more Call Of Duty remakes are certainly likely.

Unfortunately there's nothing on the cards at the moment, presumably because the publisher is busy putting all its efforts into making sure Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 are a big success. Given the most recent sales numbers, I'd say they're off to a promising start.

But what would a Black Ops Remastered look like in the year of our lord 2022, I hear you ask? It's a question talented YouTube, visionary, and all-round dreamweaver Teaserplay has decided to answer with a very attractive video, which you can watch below.

It's worth pointing out that the 12th anniversary of Black Ops isn't particularly anything to write home about. Maybe Activision will do something a little more special for the game's 15th anniversary in 2025. An official remaster, perhaps? We certainly wouldn't bet against it.

For now, just enjoy what could be and allow yourself to remember how much simpler everything was in 2010.
