Deadpool 3: Ryan Reynolds finding it 'tough' to keep up with Hugh Jackman's workouts

Ryan Reynolds is struggling to keep up with Hugh Jackman's 'Wolverine' workouts in preparation for Deadpool 3

It’d be an understatement to say that people were excited to find out Hugh Jackman would be putting the claws back on to play Wolverine again for the upcoming Deadpool 3. Even Ryan Reynolds himself has expressed profound joy that their two characters (who have a deep comic history) would finally be crossing over. Reynolds just has one problem, he can’t keep up with the Wolverine’s workouts…

Speaking with ET Canada, Reynolds was asked about his training for the third outing of the merc-with-a-mouth, and he responded: ““I’m trying… Hugh Jackman is a beast, you know? He’s clearly obsessed with his own body. So, keeping up with someone who’s that diligent is going to be challenging.”

That’s not to say that the 46-year-old Reynolds is out of shape, it’s just no secret that the 54-year-old Hugh Jackman takes the physicality behind his roles incredibly seriously, reportedly eating over 8,000 calories a day in preparation for his return to the Wolverine character.

Jackman’s return was revealed in August 2022, driving fans wild and prompting several questions as to exactly HOW Wolverine after his heart-breaking fate at the end of Logan.

The co-stars then released a video together where it was confirmed that the events of Logan will not be changed or dismissed and that Deadpool 3 will take place at a different point in the timeline, or more likely a different timeline entirely following Marvel’s introduction of the multiverse.

It’ll also mark the second time that Jackman will be able to play Wolverine in an R rating format, as it was confirmed Deadpool 3 will keep the same level of violence, gore, and profanity, despite the character’s acquisition by Disney following the 21st Century Fox takeover

Regardless of the logistics, fans of the character are just happy to see their beloved Wolverine return for presumably one last adventure, again. Let’s just hope Ryan Reynolds can survive his gruelling training regimen before the film’s release…

Deadpool 3 is set to hit cinemas in November 2024.
