Update 14/07/2021: The Assassin's Creed Valhalla Altaïr outfit is now also available to download for free via the Ubisoft Connect program, giving those of you who missed it the first time around a fresh chance to get hold of it and live out that OG Assassin's Creed life.

Original story follows

Altaïr is back, baby. Well, sort of - not fully. Ubisoft wants to thank all the players for making Assassin's Creed Valhalla the success that it's been by rewarding them with some cool in-game merch. A new outfit inspired by our first outing as an assassin in the AC universe can be claimed for free right now.

In a Twitter post from the Assassin's Creed account, Ubisoft announced that it was adding a new free outfit into the game, Altaïr's robes from the first Assassin's Creed. The white with red cloak is iconic in the series, and that hood is still what I think of when I think of AC.

Say what you want about the original game - sure, it's slow, boring, and filled with far too many collectables (there are so many collectables) but it turned out to be the beginning of an incredible journey we've travelled, all the way to Valhalla.

Also, Ubisoft is rewarding players with Yule Festival rewards as well as 300 Opals. All of these can be claimed in the Animus Store when you load up the game. After all, isn't it nice to receive some treasure without raiding a monastery sometimes? But don't worry, we'll get back to fighting soon enough, I'm sure.

This isn't the first time that Valhalla has included a reference to a previous game - shortly after the River Raids update we got some new Assassin's Creed: Black Flag merch in the game. Rather than an outfit like Altair's though, it was a new boat aesthetic that referenced our old friend the Jackdaw. It was arrr-dorable, get it?

Oh, and Valhalla got a few other updates recently too - including a new option to aesthetically improve all your weapons just how you like them, and adding a God of War inspired perspective change to the camera options. And how could I forget - they've added more cats to the game.
