The sequel to Zack Snyder's Justice League would have seen The Joker killing Robin in a flashback moment amongst the villain and the rest of the heroes. Dark.

In Suicide Squad, when Harley Quinn appears on the screen, her introductory sequence says, "accomplice to the murder of Robin." Furthermore, in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Batman preserves Robin's suit which has been trashed with the words "Ha ha ha! Joke's on you, Batman" in yellow spray paint. Now, though she's got a passion for unconventional fashion, it's since been accepted that she actually wasn't canonically involved in the character's death, given that she would have been 15 years old when Robin was killed in 2005. Director David Ayers qualified that this slight inconsistency wasn't to do with the comics and was sourced from a "personal thing," confirming that it is The Joker who murders Robin in the DC Comics cinematic universe.

"Joker killed Robin and Batman basically smashes his teeth out and locks him up in Arkham Asylum," explained the director. "It's in the asylum where Joker would have done the 'Damaged' tattoo as a message to Batman saying, 'You've damaged me. I was so beautiful before and now you've destroyed my face.' That's where the grill comes from." While it's great to get some continuity, a lot of fans would have loved to see that showdown for themselves, rather than only hear about it from those behind the scenes. Well, Zack Snyder had some news for us surrounding Justice League 2, and where it would have gone in regards to the heroes' tortured histories.

Before taking their last stand against Superman in the Knightmare world, the group would have spent some time sharing their stories and explaining how they got to this point in their lives. "So basically in the alternate-future movie, we would have been in this post-Superman, Anti-Life Equation world, where the team knew that the only way to fix the world was to run Flash back and warn Bruce to save Lois," said Snyder. "And so in that world, the movie was basically going to be about a ragtag group of Justice League members pulling off a crazy mission to steal a Mother Box from this half-destroyed cathedral in Gotham and get it back to the Batcave in order to use it to power the cosmic treadmill to jump Flash back in time."

Of course, Snyder originally had intentions to complete the story into a trilogy, before personal events caused him to depart the project. "And the night before the big mission, they would have this last supper sort of reckoning, where they would all tell their stories. One of those stories was Joker telling the story of the death of Robin." That would have led to a tense few minutes at the dinner table, for sure. But, speaking of backstories, it's possible that a Deathstroke movie could happen following the renewed success of Zack Snyder's Justice League.
