An Hour Of ‘Rainbow Six: Parasite’ Footage Has Leaked Online

It’s catching.

Thanks to a leak, an hour of gameplay of Rainbow Six: Parasite, the upcoming spinoff inspired by the Outbreak event of Siege, has been uploaded to the internet and it's looking very promising.

Expectedly, it didn't take long for Facebook to delete the stream from its platform and other sources of the video have been deleted too due to copyright claims. Yet, notes have been taken by various outlets before the gameplay disappeared, so if you want the goss, then continue reading. The footage is taken from the tutorial of the technical test, so it's nothing overly spoilery when it comes to the story of Parasite. However, it does reveal which of the original Operators are on hand to contain the crisis: Alibi, Lion, Vigil, Ela, Finka, and Tachanka. Some of their abilities have been altered and some have stayed the same - e.g. Alibi is able to use decoys to distract enemies and Tachanka has access to a mounted LMG.

Players will be happy to hear that the bare bones of Rainbow Six: Siege remain here, with weapon stats, attachments, drones, barricades, and destructible walls. The enemies of the game are the "archaeans," an alien species who has little patience for human incursions. All day and all night, everything they see is just blue like them, inside and outside. Yes, they've got razor sharp limbs, glowing spots, and they happen to be blue in colour so I wanted to write those lyrics in for that reason. Whether the archaeans are humans who have been infected by the alien organism, like Outbreak's narrative, is unknown at this time but the squad will be tasked with the research and elimination of the archaeans.

Stealth appears to be the approach you should choose with the aliens, as they will summon others if they're surprised. The REACT Blade lets the player sneak up and perform a takedown on an enemy while also collecting a sample to complete an objective. If the aliens detect the presence of invaders, they will deposit something called biofilm. This is a corrosive and cohesive liquid that slows the player down, and dead archaeans also leave this behind. Watch your step, in short. If an Operator dies or doesn't make it to the safe zone before entering the next area, then they will be found later in an "archaean tree" - think of the scene in Alien where Ripley discovers her crewmates trapped in the cocoons. Fortunately, the other players will be able to free them if they shoot the correct points on the tree and then they can be carried to an extraction point.

Well, this likely isn't the way that Ubisoft would have wanted to reveal the gameplay of Rainbow Six: Parasite. Furthermore, I imagine that the person who did leak the hour of footage is getting a stern talking-to at the very least. As a result, it's expected that we won't see anything new about Parasite for a little longer - after this technical test period is over.
