Ahsoka is an upcoming Disney+ show focusing on one of the most beloved characters of the galaxy far, far away. Star Wars hotshots have given their two cents on who they'd like to see play Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn, and now Rosario Dawson has weighed in on the possible castings.

Speaking in an interview last year, Dawson expressed how it was the fans of the character that drew her towards the role of the complicated former Jedi. "Someone tweeted me and fan-cast me," explained the actress. "I retweeted back and I was like, 'Absolutely, yes please' and '#AhsokaLives.' And apparently that got the attention of someone who has been doing the Star Wars press for years. She forwarded it to Dave Filoni. That kind of started a whole thing." Indeed, fans are often the ones who hold these stories and personae dear in their hearts and take the time to ensure that these are represented thoughtfully on the silver or small screen.

However, there is one teeny tiny snag in those inspired fan-casts that Dawson describes. The actor has to be interested in the part too. For example, Benedict Cumberbatch would be an ideal actor to step into the shoes of Grand Admiral Thrawn given his experience playing intelligent and formidable authority figures. It turns out that Cumberbatch isn't even sure who Thrawn is and he's not so interested in big-budget projects because he wants to spend time with his young children. You can't fault him for that.

We've gotten the opportunity to play some cracking games in 2021, from Chicory: A Colorful Tale to Resident Evil: Village. Yet, there's one game that I'm holding out for, and that's Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Check out the trailer here.

Earlier this year, reports emerged that Mena Massoud and Lars Mikkelsen will be playing Ezra Bridger and Thrawn respectively. Massoud received global recognition for his role as Aladdin in the live-action remake and Mikkelsen voiced Thrawn in the animated Star Wars Rebels. As Disney was not willing to confirm or deny the reports, we've had to consider these castings as aspirational and not concrete. Yet, Dawson shared a post to Instagram commending the casting of Massoud and Mikkelsen in Ahsoka the other day.

"Yassss the best news ever!! I need my BIPOC representation in @starwars can't wait to see my BB's thrive in Ahsoka as my fav characters in the universe!" read the caption of the original post. Now, the question is whether or not Dawson has confirmed these reports of Massoud and Mikkelsen joining the show. As she plays the titular character, I imagine that she is privy to a lot of the discussions that the production executives are having. However, I would say that an announcement on these two cherished Star Wars characters would come in a more formal format like a press release.

As a result, we should hold our horses for now, even though it's looking very good for Massoud and Mikkelsen. With so many Star Wars shows spinning on so many plates and considering the impact of the pandemic on the industry, it's plausible that even the most hyped up shows are taking it slow to ensure that everything is shipshape. We'll let you know when we learn more.
