Unless you're a particularly massive fan of the Dynasty Warriors franchise, you might not have been entirely alert to the fact that a live-action movie adaptation was on the way.

News of a movie based on Koei Tecmo's long-running franchise was first confirmed way back in 2016, so chances are you might have heard something in the last five years... With that said, it's also entirely likely that whatever you may have heard instantly got stored in the part of your brain where all the stuff we can't quite remember goes, like how to spell "necessary" and why we bother with flossing.

Whether you were aware of it or not, it was recently confirmed that Dynasty Warriors will be available to watch in Hong Kong on April 29 and Mainland China on April 30. There's no word on a western release just yet, but a brand-new trailer has just dropped that gives us a really good look at the movie in action. You know, just so we know what we're missing.

Take a look for yourself below!

As you can plainly see from the trailer above, Dynasty Warriors doesn't look to be sacrificing any of the over-the-top action that makes the video games so popular. This may be a film for fans of the franchise first and foremost, but who among doesn't love switching our brains off every now and again for a film crammed full of massive battles and epic fight scenes?

Dynasty Warriors is directed by Roy Chow Hin-Yeung, and stars Louis Koo, Wang Kai, Tony Yang, and Gulnezer Bextiyar. Filming wrapped up way back in 2017, but there was a pretty lengthy period of post-production required to bring the franchises' iconic large-scale battles to life. Here's hoping it makes its way over here sooner rather than later.

The movie was actually meant to have released by now, but was of course one of the hundreds of projects delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. It certainly looks like it will have been worth the wait, though.
