It looks like we'll have to wait a little longer to take control of everyone's favorite corrupted halfling. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was scheduled for release on September 2nd, but Daedalic Entertainment announced yesterday that a few things need to be ironed out, and the release date will be pushed back.
Although no date was announced, the German developer and publisher announced on many social platforms that it will be pushed back "a few months." See what they said on Twitter below.

The announcement was made on Twitter, as well as the game's official Steam page.

Under the title "An important message", the team tells us that " in order to deliver the best possible experience, we have decided to push the release of The Lord of The Rings: Gollum™ by a few months. We will update you with an exact timing in the near future."
The reasoning seems principled enough. Not for the purpose of delivering "the best possible experience," but they are "dedicated to meeting our community's expectations and uncovering the untold story of Gollum in a way that honours the vision of J. R. R. Tolkien."
Some Twitter users showed their support:
This is a good decision! Do not deliver something you will be disappointed with. Take good care of your team and yourself. I,we, will be present for this adventure!— Maxime (@MaximePotin1) July 26, 2022
User Maxime replied: "Do not deliver something you will be disappointed with. Take good care of your team and yourself."
While delays are frustrating, we agree with this sentiment. We're sure the extra time spent ironing things out will be worth it. If it helps, imagine how Gollum felt, separated from his precious ring for 77 years. If he can do that, we can occupy ourselves with another game for a few months.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was originally slated for release on September 2nd. As of July 26th, we don't have a new release date.
