Star Wars Jedi: Survivor director wants a live-action series

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor director wants a live-action series

Make it happen!

We’re living in a glorious age of live action remakes, with HBO’s The Last of Us proof that we can have nice things. The lasting impression of that series surely helped Star Wars Jedi: Survivors director to think that now is the time for a live-action series of the game.

I want to make it crystal clear that a live-action series hasn’t been greenlit, nor is there any rumour of one happening. However, Stig Asmussen isn’t quiet about believing the time is ripe for a new challenger to enter the game-turned-tv series arena, according to Dexerto.

It makes sense – after all, other, more subtle elements from Respawn games, like a BD droid, have made their way into The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Of course, these are details that only certain fans will pick up when watching the show. Nevertheless, their inclusion shows promise like a young Padawan.

But is a live-action series of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor nothing more than a dream of a collective fandom? As of now, yes. Even though Asmussen loves the idea of seeing Cal Kestis on the big screen or in a TV series, it’s not a project he’s actively working towards at this moment in time. “Not going to lie, I’d love to see it, but we’re so focused on the game that it would be difficult. I’m not gonna champion that and take time away from the game. But I’m sure Lucasfilm… they’re looking for every opportunity possible that makes sense.”

This isn’t what Cal fans will want to hear, but with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor only three weeks away, we at least have his return to our consoles as something to look forward to. Who knows, maybe Asmussen knows more than he’s letting on and a project is in the works on the hush hush. At the end of the day, the Force works in mysterious ways.
