The Super Mario Bros. Film has been posted on Twitter in full

The Super Mario Bros. Movie has been posted in full on Twitter, sending Illumination and Nintendo into meltdown.

Releasing in cinemas on 5 April 2023, The Super Mario Bros. Movie became an instant hit with fans of the American-Italian plumber, garnering $1 billion at the box office, despite receiving mixed reviews from critics. Yet, while fans of Super Mario have been clamouring into cinemas to watch the box office smash, some have been able to watch the movie for free - albeit illegally. Well, when I say “some'', what I meant to say was: millions of fans have illegitimately watched the movie on the social media platform Twitter.

We spoke to Anya Taylor-Joy about her role as Princess Peach.

As reported by The Verge, at the time of writing, tweets illegally sharing the movie on Twitter have generated 9.3 million views. However, after doing a quick search on Twitter, I can’t find the accounts associated with sharing the movie illegally, so it appears as if Universal Pictures went straight into take down mode. That being said, with the internet being the internet, I wouldn't be surprised if the film popped up again soon.

In our review of the The Super Mario Bros. Movie, we said it’s “pretty much everything I hoped it would be. For adult non-gamers, the film will most likely come across as a pleasant, if not slightly generic child-friendly adventure. However, anyone who’s played literally any Mario game before (and especially those familiar with other retro Nintendo goodness) are sure to be blown away by the film’s incredible attention to detail. This is more than a movie that takes inspiration from the main Mario series, it’s bursting with love for everything about the franchise and gaming in general, and is overall an immensely enjoyable time.”
