'Red Dead Redemption 2' Gets New Single Player Missions Via Mods

'Red Dead Redemption 2' Gets New Single Player Missions Via Mods

An ambitious mod has added a bunch of new single-player missions and a character creator to Red Dead Redemption 2.

In case you missed the tragic news, earlier this month, Rockstar Games confirmed that they aren’t really planning to do much of anything to fix the stagnation that poor Red Dead Online has been facing for over a year now.

For months, players had been campaigning for the studio to update the game with something, anything significant, but alas, to very little avail. Now, with the studio straight up saying that they don’t plan on delivering any “major themed content updates like in previous years” (despite the continual updates to GTA Online), you can understand the poor cowboy-loving gamers’ frustration.

Before we get into it, take a look at some of the funniest wins and fails from Red Dead Redemption 2 below.

Fear not though, because there’s now an alternative, of sorts. As reported by PCGamesN, an ambitious mod for Red Dead Redemption 2 by modder CruelMasterMC adds completely new missions to the single player campaign, as well as a character creator. You play through these new missions as your custom character (who can be male or female), which is really cool.

According to PCGamesN, there are plans to add a full story (including cutscenes and voice acting) to the mod, so it’s got the potential to be a massive game-changer. It’s certainly a lot more than anything Rockstar have offered Red Dead players for some time, so be sure to check it out if you’re interested - you can download it for free via Nexus Mods

Speaking of Rockstar, just to add a bit more salt to the wound, it was claimed by an insider earlier this month that new-gen versions of Red Dead Redemption 2 have been scrapped, so that more focus could be put on GTA VI. This came shortly after it was alleged that remakes of both Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV had been ditched for the same reason. While I’m sure we’re all excited to see the next Grand Theft Auto game, if these rumours are true, it’s still a pretty bitter pill to swallow.
