Ok, it's been three years. We're all relatively alright with the statement that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker wasn't a good film nor an appropriate finale for the newest trilogy? Cool. Though the ninth film left a lot to be desired, fans reckon that there might a redemption for Rey's characterisation if she was given a solo series.
Something a little like Andor or The Mandalorian. A show or perhaps a limited series that follows Rey's life post the death of Palpatine and the restoration of balance to the galaxy. However, actress Daisy Ridley isn't sure it's necessary. “I’m always open to a revisit,” she said in an interview from 2021. “But also the beautiful thing is it’s this wonderful, huge universe with all of these stories that have yet to be told. I think there’s a lot of cool things to be made before any potential revisit.”

A fair few fans would say that the character of Rey wasn't utilised to the greatest effect in the epic that took place in a galaxy far, far away. "Could a solo series (if done right) undo some of the criticism people have towards Rey? I love Daisy Ridley's portrayal and felt her story ended not well with fans," asked Reddit user KawonSuggs, and that question has incited some serious debate.
"How many simple script changes could have saved otherwise diabolical storyline choices? Rey deserved better," said one. "TROS’ biggest sin is making Rey’s power derivative of Palpatine. The character was so much stronger on her own. Daisy is incredible, and they really did both her and the character a big disservice," added another.

Obviously some aren't too invested in her future, but there are fans arguing that Andor proved that Disney is able to revive excitement for a character that we didn't know a lot about who served a secondary role in a smaller film inside the Star Wars canon. And as Ridley hasn't ruled out a return, we might get that solo series sooner than we might think.
