"Stay tuned for more info."

Cyberpunk 2077 will receive its first free DLC soon, according to an update to its official website, adding an all-new element to the sprawling sci-fi RPG.

Developer CD Projekt Red assured us that further information about the game's extras would only arrive after Cyberpunk 2077 launched, though it likely didn't expect that the launch would have knock-on effects for DLCs. Suffering three delays and the admission of mandatory crunch conditions for employees, the game was riddled with bugs, and the company had to hold an emergency meeting with stakeholders. "The cost of patching the game is irrelevant [compared] to what we have at stake at this moment, so there is no question about it. We definitely want to fix the game, we made our promise to gamers, and we will be doing everything to stick to it," said senior vice-president of business development, Michał Nowakowski.

CD Projekt Red also affirmed that the team would be resting over the festive season, and that more substantial patches would roll out in February. "Of course, first and foremost, we'll have some holidays. I mean, people are tired. So regardless of the situation, regardless of the patches, we will not just continue working... And then at least until February we will have a strong team working on patches," continued co-CEO Adam Kicinski. Additionally, he mentioned that the anticipated multiplayer mode for the game is still undated, and that it would be "hard to judge now" what impact these patches would have on the progress of the DLCs.

These free digital goodie bags will follow in the footsteps of The Witcher 3's DLC's DLC: a modest yet exciting offering of new missions, cosmetics, items, and more. Ergo, there's a lot to look forward to, and apparently, not very long left to wait. A new page has been added to the game's official website, confirming that "free DLC starts hitting Night City early 2021" with the assurance that players "stay tuned for more info." It's not clear what the first lot of DLC will be from this announcement, but it's likely that it won't cross over with a different game. There's already been a Death Stranding DLC bundle and a The Witcher 3 DLC bundle, so I would imagine these new pressies will explore the world and lore of Cyberpunk, the original tabletop role-playing game written by Mike Pondsmith.

Elsewhere, we learned that CD Projekt Red is contending with messy legal action following the upsetting launch of the game for last-gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles. The class action lawsuit claims that Cyberpunk 2077 was "virtually unplayable" owing to the "enormous number of bugs" present in the game. The situation was so bad, that even The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion players were chomping at the bit to giggle at the headless NPCs, the exploding cars, and the glitch that caused the character's private parts to peek out of their clothing. In response to the news of the incoming lawsuit, CD Projekt Red said that it would "undertake vigorous action to defend itself," so watch this space for more.
