Modern Warfare 2 is making the same 'mistake' as MW2019, say fans

Modern Warfare 2 is making the same 'mistake' as MW2019, say fans

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II community are concerned that Activision going to "make the same mistake" as it did with Modern Warfare 2019 - combining the game into the launch of Warzone 2.0 and eventually eclipsing the most recent main game when the battle royale becomes more and more lucrative.

Modern Warfare II is a real runaway success for Infinity Ward. Praise has been heaped on the game for its blockbuster campaign, inciting fans to ask Activision to allow early access to the single-player mode from now on to make the most of this part of the game before the masses descend upon the multiplayer. On that note, the multiplayer was met with a warm welcome for its inventive additions, with the Zarqwa Hydroelectric map getting more than a few special mentions. Though it's not been perfect - the headachey user interface, guys gatekeeping characters, and the weird Ghost perk - it's a peachy time to be a bigwig at Activision.

Yet. With the imminent launch of Warzone 2.0, players are starting to raise their eyebrows at the way the new battle royale is being marketed. "No no no, please don't make the mistake MW2019 made. PLEASE don't hide the main game behind Warzone," reads a post on the Modern Warfare II subreddit, showing Warzone 2.0's logo above Modern Warfare II's, with over 7,000 upvotes. "Hilarious how core MWII multiplayer has already been completely pushed to the side. The lack of content in Season One was only the tip of the iceberg," added Reddit user nonsense193749.

That being said, there are already worries over the "unfair advantage" that Modern Warfare II players will have over those who only play Warzone 2.0, but there's a possibility that this offer is here to accrue even more players for Warzone 2.0. It's still very, very early days for the new game and time will tell if Modern Warfare II and its multiplayer still gets the chance to shine.
